Our Story

The Venue at River’s Edge, formerly known as the Waterloo Community Hall, is a stunning brick Neoclassical building nestled in the Waterloo Downtown Historic District. Originally built in 1926, this community hall was a labor of love, funded by the local community to meet various needs. Featuring a large, lighted stage and an expansive wood-floored auditorium, it has been the heart of countless events, including dances, live theater performances, weddings, high school basketball games, kindergarten classes, American Legion meetings, Boy Scout gatherings, and many other community events. The main entrance lobby is flanked by men’s and women’s lounges, adding to the venue’s charm and functionality.

Since June 2019, we have proudly reopened these historic doors as The Venue at River’s Edge, continuing its legacy as a cherished gathering place while offering a perfect blend of historic elegance and modern amenities for your special occasions.
